Global Leaders Gather in Abu Dhabi for the Inaugural Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit

On May 5-6, 2025, Abu Dhabi will host the inaugural Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit (GETS 2025), a landmark event aimed at shaping the future of technology governance on a global scale. Under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, the summit will take place at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort.

Objective of the Summit

Organized by the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) in partnership with the UAE Public Prosecution, GETS 2025 arrives at a critical moment as the world confronts rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and Web3 technologies. The summit aims to establish robust governance frameworks that balance innovation with the protection of societal rights.

Faisal Al Bannai, Advisor to the UAE President for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs, emphasized the importance of governance, stating, “Innovation without ambitious governance lacks sustainability.” He reiterated the UAE’s commitment to coupling technological leadership with ethical and inclusive policies that build trust and advance global human progress.

Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, highlighted the crucial role of youth in shaping technology governance. He remarked, “The future of technology governance should be crafted by minds attuned to its evolution.” The summit aims to empower young individuals to take part in discussions and decisions that will lay the ethical foundations of the digital future.
