In Indonesia, lawmakers have taken a different approach, temporarily blocking access to the xAI chatbot, Grok, after it was used to generate sexually explicit content that violated national laws.

Despite the risks, Lin acknowledges the practical benefits of generative AI, mentioning its usefulness in writing, proofreading, and providing feedback. “It’s been really helpful in writing for proofreading and giving feedback, and generally acting as a beta reader,” she said.
