The EU AI Act: What It Means and How to Comply

As of August 2, the latest articles of the European Union (EU) Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act have come into effect, leading to increased scrutiny regarding security measures associated with AI use cases, especially those categorized as ‘high risk’.

How the Act Rewrites the Rules of Cybersecurity

The EU AI Act enhances cyber resilience by mandating AI-specific technical protections. It is a pioneering regulation that calls for defenses against various threats, including data poisoning, model poisoning, adversarial examples, confidentiality attacks, and model flaws.

While the Act itself lays the groundwork, the delegated acts will define practical resilience measures. Compliance will depend on technical specifications that are yet to be established, which will clarify what constitutes an appropriate level of cybersecurity.
